Tulsi and Manieri are twin sisters. Ganesh Singh, an army man, falls in love with Tulsi with her father refuses to give him Tulsi as he hails from a low class. Moorat Singh and Manthra are busy bodies of the village, arrange for her marriage with a greedy Thakur. The Thakur turns down the offer but Tulsi marries Ganesh Singh. Ganesh Singh is reported to have died in war but Tulsi refuses to wipe off her sindoor or to break the bangles. Her faith brings back Ganesh Singh alive later.
