Biopic on Sant Tukaram, one of the greatest saints to emerge from Maharashtra. Born in an affluent family, Tukaram's childhood is a largely happy one. As an adult, he capably shoulders responsibility of his father's profession as a money lender and is a dutiful son. He marries twice and each of his wives bears him one child each. Then a terrible famine ravages the land and the family falls on hard times and starvation. But then, after several long years, the rains come. Tukaram sees this as a blessing of Lord Vitthal and decides to dedicate the rest of his life to the search of God and the enlightenment of the people, thus becoming Sant (saint) Tukaram.—Soumitra
