The action takes place in Turkmenistan in the 1930s. The old surgeon Yastrebov forbids his daughter Liza from practicing parachuting, considering it too dangerous. One day, a pilot arrives from the airport. In a remote village, a child is dying, and needs an urgent operation. Yastrebov agrees to fly.
