In Kabul the premiere of a theatre piece about suicide bombings gets attacked by a 16 year old Taliban suicide bomber. In the audience: Poets, painters, musicians, actors - plus diplomats and aid workers. Some of the artists flee to Europe, but most decide to stay in Kabul and come back stronger. A story that makes every viewer ask: And me? What am I passionate enough about to make me stay in a country that's falling apart? The French Cultural Center was the only point of encounter for this diverse group of Kabul's inhabitants, Afghans and internationals - and like every other place confronted with terror its staff faced the question: How will we secure ourselves without sacrificing our freedoms?
