Tribal is a one-hour, character-driven crime drama set in a large Metropolitan city surrounded by four Indian Reserves. The department of Federal Justice attempts to save political face under the mask of inclusion and collaboration with the controversial appointment of a young, female, indigenous Chief of Tribal Police and pairing her with a big-city detective to tackle indigenous-related crime in the city.

After Sam and Buke's discovery, they are unsure of who to trust. Connie Harris appoints Victoria Mann as the new leader of a task force as they try to determine who is responsible for the tomb. Later, a white poacher is found dead on a reserve and Sam and Buke come face-to-face with the memory of Buke's shooting. Season 2 explores healing lodge dynamics, trauma caused by PTSD, a hostage situation and the resurrection of the Starlight Tours. The divide between the Metro and Tribal police departments escalates, affecting Sam and Buke's partnership.
