Experienced virologist Anya Markova leaves her personal and professional life in Moscow and moves to work at the Virology Center in Novosibirsk. She is clearly trying to escape from some personal pain, but in a new place, fate throws another test at the girl - due to the illegal dumping of a large meat processing plant, an outbreak of an unknown virus is recorded in the nearest village. Wanting to rehabilitate herself for the mistakes of the past, Anya decides to check the village on her own. However, local residents, not trusting modern treatment methods and not realizing the danger, are hostile to the virologist. A new type of plague breaks out in the village.
