In 1944, the British Command of the Special Operations Executive (SOE), along with the Cretans involved in the resistance, planned the kidnapping of the German General Heinrich Kraipe, in the region of Heraklion. The kidnapping was carried out by Major Patrick Lee Fermor and Captain William Mos, along with Cretan rebels. It was one of the greatest achievement in this war.—Tony Montana
