Piraeus, 1944. On a quiet but restless summer night, the Nazis set up an ambush in Kokkinia, a poor commoners' neighbourhood. Before long, they manage to capture Kosmas, a ruthless black marketeer celebrating his marriage to a local girl, Antigone.
