A stock broker's best man thinks the bride-to-be and her family are just out for the groom's money, so he does everything he can to prevent the wedding.

Wealthy Vic Arnold, the proprietor of his own successful Wall Street brokerage, has just gotten engaged to Beth Calhoun. He has asked his best friend from childhood, P.H. Bancroft, affectionately referred to as Ban or Pig-Head, at whose wedding twenty-three years ago he was best man, to be his best man, Ban and his wife Lottie who Vic never sees in they living in small town Big Bend where Vic and Ban grew up. Upon meeting Beth, her brother Wally, who works with Vic at the brokerage, and Joe Roberts, Beth's football playing former fiancé, Ban comes to the immediate conclusion that the Calhouns are a bunch of gold-diggers who have latched onto Vic solely for his money, that conclusion especially after he sees what much younger Beth does for a living. Ban has to decide what to do, the negative consequences of whatever his actions be damned.—Huggo
