Old pals Boomer Benson and Jeff Collins are lumberjacks in the Wisconsin woods. Unbeknownst to one another, each has been courting by mail a girl, Yvette, whom they met in Europe during the war. Jeff and Boomer bid separately on a logging job, planning to tackle it together.
