Malcolm dreamed of being a "dad just like his mom" since he was in preschool. He got the opportunity when he married a strong woman much like his mother. This domestic arrangement turned out to be more than what he had anticipated.

Therapy Ties will follow a nontraditional stay at home dad Malcolm, who finds an unconventional connection with other men while taking his son with Autism to therapy. He and the other men at the children's therapy center develop friendships that are authentic, genuine and purposeful as they share their lives with one another while waiting for their kids to finish therapy. They also learn a lot about how to support their children's development and carryover skills through the therapists at the center. In the meantime Wanda, the kids' mother, is developing her own therapy relationships, through a forced group home experience because of a TPO that was issued against her by her husband. She has not been the most attentive and nurturing mom and when faced with this mandatory separation from her children, she is forced to deal with the trauma of her own childhood, being raised in the foster care system, something she has worked to ignore her whole life. Through flashbacks of childhood and their early days of relationship, Wanda and Malcolm separately discover what their relationship was missing through the crisis they have found themselves in.—Christine Evette
