Set in contemporary rural China, Xiaoyu (Liang Yongni), a young married woman, ended her own life after she was interrogated by the police about her past. She was slandered for prostitution activity when she was living in the city. The widowed husband (Su Hao) embarks on a journey to uncover his deceased wife's past. He slowly learns about the course of Xiaoyu's life in the city through people who knew her-once a naive woman from a small village, Xiaoyu was gradually engulfed in the urban life with the promise of money and comfort.
