On the verge of another year of pointless post-graduate study, a capricious and unemployed teacher accepts his first posting to a remote indigenous community; but when stereotypical mindsets on both sides of the cultural divide seek to obstruct a gifted aboriginal student's unconventional dreams and aspirations, he must learn to back his convictions to break through the divide, even if it means incurring the wrath of a community, government and never being able to teach again.
