Synopsis

Aspiring amateur magician Walter "Wally the Great" is preparing for a magic show competition for Best Magician in the Magic Club (owned by his uncle Cecil) in which he works, however, he finds that he is having trouble with his ability to perform magic tricks. but he wants to do it for his great-grandfather Waldo the Magnificent and to beat his devious rival Roland the Remarkable. A nervous and jealous Wally figures he needs a new magic wand to win the contest.

meanwhile, the Australian children's band "the Wiggles", (consisting of yellow magic-loving leader Gregory John "Greg" Wiggle, blue food-loving drummer Anthony Donald Joseph Wiggle, red music-loving guitarist Murray James Wiggle, and purple sleepy keyboardist Jeffery Wayne "Jeff" Wiggle), are planning a live performance concert at a primary school called Mrs Bingle's School. their green rose-eating ornithischian humanoid dinosaur friend Dorothy the Dinosaur is hoping the Wiggles will be up to celebrating her birthday. the Wiggles pretend to have forgotten, disappointing Dorothy, but are planning a surprise birthday party for her at the school. Wally comes by the school riding on his bike, and oversees Greg's magic show. out of jealousy, Wally senses real magic within Greg's wand and sees an opportunity to win the contest by stealing it. Dorothy sees him and chases after him as he accidentally loses his magician cape, which a child at the school finds and shows to the Wiggles, identifying the criminal who may have captured Dorothy.

the Wiggles decide to use their "Big Red Car", a large red Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, to pursue Wally in order to retrieve Greg's wand and find Dorothy. they teleport through a rainbow into their animated alternate universe, known as the "Wiggles' World", figuring their friends may have seen Dorothy. after visiting their friends such as Henry the Octopus (a purple humanoid octopus who runs an underwater ocean band in a swimming pool) and Wags the Dog (the Wiggles' pet brown humanoid dog), they decide to instead venture further into the Wiggly World such as their house and Brrrrrrrrrr Street, but fail. they eventually venture back to the real world where they plan for the party back at the school, but Dorothy does not arrive.

Meanwhile in the real world, Wally realises Dorothy has stowed away on his tricycle and collides into a park. Dorothy accuses him of stealing Greg's wand, and they both angrily fight each other for the wand, resulting in snapping the wand in two. Dorothy realises that Greg's live magic show cannot continue without the wand, and that they must venture into the Wiggles' World to have it fixed (whilst she is also hoping that someone will remember her birthday). Wally agrees, though only wants it fixed so he can win the prize. they both enter the Wiggly World on Wally's bike and ask Wags the Dog and Captain S.S. Feathersword (a friendly though mischievous pirate who likes to tickle people) to have it fix, but only manage for the wand to be accidentally smashed. Dorothy also helps the local police constable Officer Beaples catch a rose-robbing criminal and attends a live orchestra dance with Wally. Dorothy eventually realises that no one remembers her birthday and wants to give up, but Wally, having been reformed from his selfish and greedy deeds by Dorothy, tells her that he still remembers her birthday and has become a new friend to her. After receiving a vision from Waldo's spirit, Wally then realises that the did not need a wand to do magic tricks, and goes back to the real world with Dorothy and wins the prize wand (the wand of his great-grandfather) at the competition just in time with a score of 10-9-9. Impressed, Roland reforms from his self-centeredness and befriends Wally.

Wally and Dorothy eventually make it back to the school just before it is about to be cancelled, and they surprise her with a musical birthday party concert in a circus tent. Wally also decides to give the prize wand to Greg, to continue his magic show, but Greg tells him that he does not need another wand as he already has a wide collection of spares, and so tells Wally that instead he should keep the wand to remind of his adventure and the new friends he has made. Wally finds fun with the Wiggles as they all together dance the night away.
