Summaries

Brimming with biting comic dialogue and brisk plot twists, most of "The Walkers" takes place over a single weekend in the late 1970s. This dark comedy follows the story of 27-year-old LAURA, who wakes up one morning and inexplicably leaves her pretty-much-perfect husband JOEY. When Laura flees to her parents' crazily dysfunctional home, Joey follows her, prompted by her heart-rending plea for him to come get her - a plea made to him in a midnight phone call that she swears she didn't make. As Joey tries to get to the bottom of just what is going on with his wife, he finds himself sucked into the crazy world of his in-laws; so mired in emotional denial are they that they can only speak the truth when they sleepwalk. The play upon which it is based has been performed all over the country and was a Los Angeles Times Critic's Choice.
