Synopsis

Movie Image Section Library of Congress to the best of their knowledge, the 1929 film "The Wagon Master" has never been released on home video and is not available for viewing on any online platform. The only archival holding they are aware of is an Incomplete copy of the silent version held by the Dutch film archive in Amsterdam (the film was simultaneously released in both silent and sound versions). The highfood prices charged as a result of Lynch's monopoly are threatening the life of the mining communities served.The Rambler joins Hollister's outfit when it sets out for Gold Hill, a mining camp. Lynch schemes to prevent Hollister's wagon-trainfrom reaching its destination. The Rambler rescues Sue Smith, a pretty girl, in a runaway. He takes command of the wagon-train when Hollister is killed from ambush by Lynch's henchmen. Jacques Frazalle, who was Hollisger's second in command, schemesto displace the Rambler as wagon master and to win Sue. At a desert water-hole the Rambler outwits Lynch's men who try tokeep him from getting water for his outfit. Frazelle enters into a plot with Lynch to disrupt the Rambler's wagon-trainBad blood develops between the Rambler and Frazelle as the result of their rivalry over Sue. The Rambler vanquishes Frazelle in a whip fight in a dance hall at at Devil's dive. He and his men fight their way back to their wagons, andmake their way into Gold Hill in time to keep the miner from signing an exorbitant contract with Lynch. The Rambler and Sue share the triumph together.
