A renowned scientist, plagued by nightmares and migraines, has to grapple with the ethical implications of his research being put to nefarious uses by his big pharmaceutical employer, while also resisting his family's attempts to bring him back to his childhood faith in Jesus. When he finally realizes the extent of the big pharma conspiracy and the rightness of his family's faith he promises to renounce/denounce the one and embrace the other. But he has left it too late: the Rapture of the End of Days takes his - and millions of other - family members and he finds himself constrained and powerless in a mental institute where his doctor does the work of the new power in charge of earth and remaining humanity - the Devil.
