1960s, an Italian seaside village. Cast out after the death of her husband, the wife of a tailor battles to keep the local business afloat.

Rosetta is a lively, charming and confident 42-year-old southern flower of the Thyrrenian coast. She's happily living with her husband Edmondo. He's the best tailor in all of Calabria. They're both proud of their atelier and of their beautiful daughter Sofia. With the sudden death of Edmondo, at the apex of artistic and economic success, Sofia and Rosetta are left alone by all their relatives and supposed friends; so they throw themselves in the only resource that life has left them: to keep the tailor shop working.

Year 1960. After the sudden death of her husband, a tailor for only men, Rosetta, a charming woman from a small town in the South of Italy, is abandoned by everyone, being forced to fight, together with her daughter Sofia, to defend her dignity and the family tailoring. Corrupt town Councilor Cordaro, in fact, wants to take over the property, located in the center of the town center and with a beautiful view of the sea, to transform it into a hotel for tourists, within a building project piloted by an unscrupulous engineer from the north. With the complicity of some villagers, Cordaro begins to defame Rosetta and Sofia, to leave them without work and force them to sell the tailoring. Meanwhile, Salvatore and Francesco, two young puppeteers, arrive in the village, and the first falls in love with Sofia. With the approval of Rosetta and to the amazement of the villagers, the two get married. But the girl can't have children, and the right-thinkers begin to cast suspicions about the authenticity of the marriage.
