Synopsis

This is a bitter-sweet tale that starts with suicide. In a sleepy village in Montenegro, close to the border with Albania, most of the natives immigrated to the USA. They come back only for the summer, and their huge new luxury houses which are empty throughout the year, finally come alive. Those who stayed home are thorn between worshiping the lives of their relatives in America and surviving in a confined and very traditional society.

In this picturesque village, our story follows three women fighting for their rights to live their lives on their own terms and here the story unfolds: Suta, in her mid-forties, is a beautiful woman. Nobody knows the reason why her husband took his own life, nor does Suta herself. After her husband's suicide, Suta is confronted with her husband's mother who insists on getting married to the other twin, autistic son of hers, Malush. This intent comes from the village mentality that believes that a woman's life is over when her husband dies. While grieving for her loss and trying to find out the reasons behind her husband's suicide, Suta finds the strength to take life into her own hands.

Drane (25) is Jasem's new wife; while Vezire (30) is his first wife. He bought both of them in Albania, for less than 1000 euros. When Vezire proved unable to birth children, Jasem just bought a new one. Vezire has nowhere to go and no other option than to agree to the arrival of the young wife. Jasem's two women need to learn to live together with each other, and together with Jasem, who in the meantime is arranging his possible departure to US. This is usual to the residents accustomed to bringing brides from Albania, but Vezires fight for the rights of both women is surprising and inspiring.

Fize, an old woman, lives in the village with her sick old man. Sadri, her only son, who has migrated to the US, talks to her daily through Skype. During these conversations, she notices that her son has changed; his ways now resemble those of a woman. Unaware of his sexual preferences, Fize pushes him to get married and looks for a bride, while her husband is slowly fading away.

Meanwhile, a stork comes to the village. Local people believe stork brings bad luck, even death. Others want to protect it. At the end of the day, the stork is a migrant itself, coming from the East...
