Orphan Dolores Fernandez leaves South America for New York in search of fame as a violinist, then takes a job in a cheap cabaret and is arrested when a riot ensues. Dolores arrives in court in possession of a diamond bracelet she has found and, due to a series of complications, has not yet been able to return. When the bracelet is recognized as Mrs. Ridgeway's lost gem, Dolores is sent to the reformatory for four months. After she is released, Mrs. Ridgeway's son Bruce chances to hear Dolores play and arranges a concert tour for her where she gains fame and success. On the evening of her engagement to Bruce, several acquaintances from the reformatory show up and implicate Dolores in a plot to steal Bruce's sister's wedding presents. The crooks eventually are caught, and Dolores is cleared of all wrongdoings.—AFI
