The Single Object tells the surprising and significant stories behind five everyday objects - from the ballpoint pen used to protest the dawn raids to the chainsaw taken up One Tree Hill.

Produced in association with Objectspace, The Single Object told the surprising and significant stories behind five everyday objects, from the ballpoint pen used to protest the dawn raids to the chainsaw used to cut the pine tree on One Tree Hill by activist Mike Smith. The series' 5 x 10 minute episodes drew on interviews with the key players, experts and historians along with archival footage to tell stories that have affected and helped shape Aotearoa we live in today - whether we realised it or not. Episodes like 'Chainsaw' also helped tell the real story behind events many New Zealanders have collectively misremembered, finally setting the record straight.
