In this film, edited from eight episodes of Disney's hit TV series, Don Diego returns home to find his town under the heel of a cruel dictator, Capitan Monastario. The wealthy and debonair Don Diego return home, in the Mission era of Spanish California, to the pueblo known as Reina de Los Angeles. There he finds that the lives and freedom of the citizens are constantly threatened by an oppressive military tyrant, Captain Monastario and his Lancers.
