A string of miscalculated choices and the longing of a fresh start will drag Magda of the slums deeper and deeper into a tireless personal nightmare.

In the cruel and merciless world of Troumba, the flamboyant and kind-hearted cabaret singer, Magda, aka the "Marquise", falls head-over-heels in love with the handsome mariner, Manos Apostolidis. Indeed, Manos seems like the ideal husband, and Magda decides to marry him and start a family, dreaming of a better future. And before long, she bids farewell to the dreadful industrial slums and her former colleagues in the cabaret, without a second thought. However, the frail fantasy of a fresh start will soon fade away, as a powerless and defeated Magda inevitably succumbs under the heavy burden of a terrible revelation.
