A dramatized biography of the prolific and controversial romantic novelist Catherine Cookson who mined her abusive childhood for her stories. Using archive interviews with Catherine herself and drama reconstructions of her childhood memories of life with her alcoholic mother a picture of a complex writer is built up who became one of the worlds most successful authors.
