In post-1821 Peloponnese, a humble farmhand dares to fall in love with the beautiful sister of the area's haughty landlord, only to trigger a dangerous cycle of unbridled violence. Can there be redemption for the proud ones?

Somewhere at a small village in the mountainous region of the Peloponnese peninsula, right after the Revolution of 1821 against the oppressive Ottoman Empire, Liakos Bournovas, the humble farmhand of the area's haughty landlord, Panagis Notaras, dares to fall in love with Panagis' beautiful sister, Fotini. To further complicate things, against the backdrop of covert passions, blind prejudice and thoughtless discrimination, the premeditated abduction of Fotini by the notorious bandit, Captain Arvanitis, will pave the way for a dangerous cycle of unbridled violence. Now, as a result, an innocent will have to pay for the arrogance of those who are powerful. Can there be redemption for the proud ones?—Nick Riganas
