Synopsis

As the title suggests, this documentary film is about the formation of a band. However, that's almost like a cover story. This film is really about the establishment of relationships between women living in Israel and in the West Bank. It explores the complex, tangled relationships between people living in these two states and also discusses why those relationships exist and how they affect people on both sides. A raw, probing look at this situation from a strictly female point of view.

The American filmmaker initiates the plot by deciding to visit the West Bank. As an American, she is free to do so. By Israeli law, there are many places in the West Bank that Israelis cannot visit. At first the American brings only one Israeli friend with her to visit one specific woman living in Nablus. Then more. Eventually, she's got several women traveling with her. They decide to form a band to play just one song so that the friend in Nablus can visit Israel.

The path from that decision to the one song is complicated by rules, regulations, and social mores on both sides of the border. It's not an easy path and it's not a straightforward path. The camera travels that path with an unblinking eye.
