The Professional: A Stevie Blatz Film is a documentary film directed and produced by Daniel LaBarbera and Dylan Avery. The film chronicles the real life of Stevie Blatz, a local entertainment celebrity in Bethlehem, PA as he contemplates closing his business that he has owned and operated for 10 years.
The eccentric 27 year old self-proclaimed entrepreneur, Stevie Blatz wrestles with some of life's basic challenges. While gaining local notoriety as a wacky entertainer in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Stevie's desire for success is hindered by his inability to focus on one thing at a time.
A jack of all trades, arguably the master of none. Already struggling with his current entertainment company, Stevie concludes that expanding in every direction possible is the ticket to success. The rapid growth of Stevie's business endeavors is on full display as he adds snow removal, lawn care, power washing, tent/chair/table/plate-ware rentals, marketing, stand-up comedy, and photography to his list of services that he has little experience in, against the advice of his closest confidants.
While juggling his businesses and mounting debt, Stevie finds himself sucked into several relationships that threaten to derail his efforts.
Struggling to make it on his own, Stevie is forced to move back home with his parents while his mother helps him with the day-to-day business operations. The toxic relationship between Stevie and his mother is on full display as viewers get a rare glimpse of screaming matches and helicopter parenting. As the relationship with his mother worsens, Stevie's desire to once again move out of the house and make it on his own is tampered by an inability to spend his money responsibly.
This unique character study gives a rare and captivating behind the scenes look into the life of a 27 year old man who desperately wants, like many of us, to be respected and loved.
