Dorian Gray makes a pact with the devil, ensuring that all of his sins shall be transferred onto his picture while he remains young forever.

Henry Wotton is enjoying life as a reckless Bachelor, despite being trapped in a doomed marriage. One morning he receives a visit from his old friend and photographer Basil Hallward. Basil claims to have met an extraordinary young man, and to have captured his portrait. Eager to be praised for his efforts, Basil reveals the picture to Henry. Both men are soon enchanted by the sheer beauty of the young man depicted on the canvas. His name is Dorian Gray, and Henry realizes that he has to do everything in his power in order to meet him.
