Jenny Wren is found dead after threatening to blackmail some prominent men, and it's up to a detective to find out what happened to Jenny.

Jenny Wren coerces banker Priam Andes to have a dinner party at his shorefront estate Crestwood, and instructs him to invite three other men, each of whom she plans to extort money from. Jenny plans to retire to Europe after a life of involvement with wealthy and influential men. Also at the party, among others, are Jenny's sister Esther and her fiance, scion of the Andes family. Gold-digger Jenny Wren gathers a bunch of her old boyfriends together Crestwood and demands extortion money from each one...or else. "Or else" turns out to be that she is murdered. She also has a nice sister who is about to marry into an aristocratic family, but her fiancé's sinister aunt opposes the match.
