A Canadian man works as a stagehand in Toronto and falls in love with a Chinese singer of the visiting Peking Opera.

Gordon is a lowly stagehand working in a Toronto opera house. When the Peking Opera visits town, he is immediately enamored with Mei-lin, one of the principal singers. He pursues her despite Mei-lin being shy and timid and a romance eventually blossoms.
