A young woman with a past is manipulated by the police to discover a missing drugs shipment, also wanted by the mafia. Between her musician husband and her long time detective friend, she is hopeless - but still performs some jazz numbers.

Nick tries to help old friend jazz singer Norma Sherman who is just out of prison for drug use. Norma finds her husband Joe had left her for another woman. Nick and nightclub owner Arthur Troy try to help her get a license to perform in nightclubs, but problems arise. The criminal Organization forces the drug-hating Arthur Troy to handle a drug shipment gone wrong. Lieutenant Warren of the Narcotics Bureau wants Nick to use Norma to find the drug shipment, but he refuses.—Artemis-9
