Two contestants team up to answer 8 multiple choice questions to try and win a million dollars. The contestants start with a million dollars, and must place the money on either just the one answer or spread it over multiple answers.
A team of two contestants that have a pre-existing relationship with each other is presented with A$1,000,000 in 50 bundles of A$20 notes, with A$20,000 in each bundle. The team then have to risk their money on the answers to eight multiple choice questions.
Each question begins with the team choosing between two question categories. Once they select a category, they receive the question and a number of alternative answers. Each alternative appears over a trapdoor, known as a "drop", and the contestants have 60 seconds to transfer all of the bundles onto the drops. If they are sure of the answer, they can move all of the bundles to the drop that corresponds to that answer, otherwise they can split the money across multiple drops. The only constraint is that they have to keep at least one drop clear. If they don't transfer all of the bundles before the time runs out, then any unmoved bundles are immediately lost.
The team then have the option of using a "quick change". If they take it, then the team are given another 30 seconds to transfer the bundles between the drops. Each team is only permitted to use a "quick change" once in the entire game.
Once the money is in place, the correct answer is revealed by the doors on the drops corresponding to the incorrect answers being opened. Sometimes, all of these drops are opened at the same time, and on other occasions, the drops are opened one by one. If none of the opened drops have any money on them, then the team keeps all of their money for the next question, otherwise the money on the drops falls down the chute beneath the doors out of sight and is lost, leaving the team with the money they placed on the drop corresponding to the correct answer for the next question.
For the first four questions, the team are presented with four possible answers. If the team reaches the fifth question, one of the chutes is removed, with only three possible answers presented for the next three questions. Another chute is removed for the final question, which has only two possible answers. The requirement to keep at least one drop clear means that the team must put all of their remaining money on one of the drops, meaning that the final question has an "all or nothing" scenario, but there is no time limit for the team to decide which drop's answer they think is correct and move all of their remaining money there.
If the team doesn't place any money on the drop beneath the correct answer for any question, then the game ends at that point and they leave with nothing, but if they choose the correct answer for the eighth question, then they will win the money that they have remaining.
