The filmmaker, an Orthodox Jew from Brooklyn, seeks to find out whether his parents' Holocaust trauma has distorted his lifelong views of Arabs and of the Arab-Israeli conflict. He finds an answer in the haunting ruins of the Arab village of Lifta and in his growing relationship with Yacoub, a Palestinian who was expelled from the village as a child.
