The Last Ring Home is a made-for-TV documentary that recounts the story of how a WWII hero's last wish was lost, found, finally fulfilled and then lost again. The discovery of the story by the hero's grandson is as big as the discovery of the ring.
The Last Ring Home is a 27-minute WWII documentary that traces the incredible story of the Annapolis ring of a US Navy officer and hero, Lt Cdr Minter Dial. After 2 1/2 years of horrific imprisonment by the Japanese in the Philippines, his last wish was to have his ring returned to his loving wife; but the ring never made it. It was then found in the most improbable of circumstances 18 years later in Korea. The discovery of the ring was just the beginning of a new chapter. With 25 years of research and 130 interviews of his grandparents' peers, grandson Minter embarked on a journey to discover his grandparents and bring healing to his father. The Last Ring Home uncovers the mystery of how the ring was lost and found and, importantly, the lasting legacy it had on all those it touched. It is a moving romance and a tribute to the members of the Greatest Generation and a reminder of what is truly important.—Minter Dial
