Summaries

Set in a remote Florida landscape of sugarcane fields and irrigation canals, 'The Last Pariahs' is an intimate portrait of the residents of Miracle Village, a small community where sex offenders are in charge of other sex offenders. Theirs are mostly low-level offenses, arrested for sex-ting or having underage girlfriends, but they'll be on the Sex Offender Registry forever, branded with a label that renders them marginalized and unemployabe, cut off from their families and in constant fear of re-arrest. Filmmaker Lisa F. Jackson was given unfettered access to this community of virtual pariahs and embedded for over a year with her main characters, the Village's directors Chad and Pat, a perspective that provides a unique microcosm of consideration of this polarizing issue.
