The greatest trapeze performer of all time reflects on his illustrious circus career and reveals why he unexpectedly quit flying.

During a Ringling performance in 1982, Miguel Vazquez made national news (NY Times, NBC News, etc.,) by becoming the first trapeze performer to complete in performance what was described as "The greatest feat in all of circus history" - a quadruple somersault to the hands of his brother and catcher, Juan. For 15 years, Miguel and his family, "The Flying Vazquez", headlined the premiere circuses in The U.S. and Europe. In 1994, at zenith of his career, Miguel unexpectedly stopped flying - never to perform the quadruple somersault again. Filmed over a seven year period, the film focuses on the past and present lives of the members of "The Flying Vazquez" and addresses the dangers and sometimes tragic events in the lives of circus performers. To understand why Miguel Vazquez might be "The Last Great Circus Flyer", the film includes interviews with the greatest living trapeze flyers (past and present) and features location filming at Ringling Bros., Circus Vargas, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (Circus Museum) in Sarasota and backstage at the Las Vegas productions of Cirque du Soleil's "O" and the Wynn Hotel production of "Le Reve".—Phil Weyland

A quadruple somersault was considered impossible until 17 year old Miguel Vazquez achieved this 'impossible' quadruple during a 1982 Ringling Bros. performance. Vazquez's 'Quad' was a premiere attraction at Ringling Bros., and the largest circuses in Europe until in 1994, at the apex of his career, Vazquez unexpectedly quit flying. Filmed over a 6 year period, this film addresses the triumphs, dangers, fears and oftentimes tragedies of trapeze performers through interviews with great flyers of the past and performances by young flyers from Ringling Bros., Cirque du Soleil, and Circus Vargas.
