In the desolate city of Chernobyl, workers kill a bird while removing it from within the bare bones of a disabled nuclear power station. The bird is one of a multitude of dodos in an alternative universe where the dodo has been saved from extinction thanks to an African Explorer named Harry Zefero. That night, one of the Chernobyl workers is attending a class about the history of the dodo and, as they are everywhere, the other worker joins him to learn more about the bird he must keep exterminating. Attending the class is the daughter of the African Explorer. She travels to wherever the lesson of the dodo is taught, and while she comments, a flashback ensues bringing the story back to the Explorers Club, 1919 and their search for what was then thought to be the last dodo..—Peter Dizozza
