Students showcase the best of Lamar High School through their eyes.
Each year since 2015, a group of students at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas is given control of the school's weekly news show. Students perform sketches, interviews of peers and faculty, PSA's, event coverage, announcements, and more.
The show premiered in 2015 with its first season, including recurring segments like "Happening 16" and "The White Wall." The shows often included a mix of work from multiple editors and run times varied, but served well for a breakout season and secured another year to prove itself.
The second season premiered with a whole new format. More people were added to the team, the official YouTube channel was created, and episodes became more consistently cut by one main editor. Runtimes were shortened to around 10 minutes consistently to be more digestible.
By the third series the show had become a hit. An official Berserker class was created for the show to be produced, and a mix of old and new crew members added spice to the visual and creative style.
The fourth season introduced a new version of the show: Berserker Rivals. The crew was split into three groups competing to be the best. This meant that every week, a different crew was in charge of the episodes. While some episodes had a heavier focus on music, others leaned into wacky skits, bringing a whole new level of variety to the show.
Berserker season five returned the format to one unified team, but was unfortunately cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Online schooling provided a certain difficulty for creating episodes, and the future of the show is uncertain.
