Taking place in a small town in 1939 Germany, two lifelong friends Hanz Keller and Franz Engels have their lives set for them. Engaged and hopelessly in love, they both soon find themselves inducted into Hitler's great army. Alone and fighting to stay alive, Hanz finds himself in a 5 year struggle deep within the heartland of Soviet Russia, where by certain fate is reunited with his long lost friend. With the hopes of being once again reunited with the loves of their lives, both find themselves twined between death and selfness acts of heroism.—Matthew Caffrey
