Synopsis

"The Kingfish 2" is a Philadelphia-based coming-of-age comedy, following three smart, savvy high school friends on a daring quest through a rugged North Philly neighborhood. Along the way, they face formidable challenges that demand quick wit and a bit of luck to overcome. Despite its urban setting, the film is devoid of sex, drugs, profanity, violence, or guns. Instead, it is defined by its sharp wit, clever writing, and abundant humor.

Adapted from the award-winning TV pilot "The Kingfish," "The Kingfish 2" continues the story of Bobby, Flip, and X, adventurous high schoolers from Philadelphia who venture into a rugged section of North Philly in pursuit of a mysterious item. Along the way, they encounter threatening adversaries presenting challenges the trio must overcome using their wit, imagination, and a bit of luck. Amidst love interests, laughter, and a fierce lightsaber battle, they face off against the menacing gangster Kingfish.

The film features a remarkable music soundtrack, which is to be expected given that the screenplay was written by music producer and best-selling author Tab Edwards-who has written and produced songs for Grammy Award-winning singer Jazmine Sullivan and hit recording artist Josephine Sincere; she makes her long-awaited return to the music scene in the film, performing her new single. The film introduces a new group Penny Cupcake, and features music by popular Philly artists Jazmine Sullivan, Ital Tha Ruffian, Ruggedness, Black Key Beats, and others.
