An ex-soldier turned highwayman uncovers a plot to take control of England from King Charles II.

Lady Mary's father is innocently accused of treason and is executed. It is the King's evil chancellor, the Duke of Brampton, who has found a way of getting rich by accusing wealthy nobles of treason, having them killed, and then expropriating part of their fortune along with their troops. Lady Mary travels to London to meet the Duke, and at the same time, meets the daring and handsome highwayman Michael Dermott. Dermott has stolen the Duke's notebook where the list of targeted noblemen has been written down. The Duke is very anxious to get his notebook back.—Mattias Thuresson

The evil Duke of Brampton has the ear of King Charles II and he has been falsely accusing members of the nobility of treason for his own purposes. After her father is executed, Lady Mary travels to England determined to clear his good name. She meets the dashing highwayman Michael Dermott who has found out that the Duke has a list of targeted victims, and that he has been pocketing a portion of their confiscated fortunes. The Duke has also cheated the King's soldiers out of their pay for their service in the recent wars, and some have turned to crime to survive. The couple decide that the only way to get the King's attention, the Duke controls access to the monarch, is to steal the Crown Jewels and hold them for ransom to arrange an audience with the King and present their findings. The Duke does everything in his power to thwart the ex-soldier and the avenging Mary.—garykmcd
