Summaries

While overseas with the A. E. F., Pvt. Johnnie Stanton marries Georgette, a French girl, and he takes her home to settle in a New York City flat. Johnnie is concerned lest his pal, Jerry Limur, member of a gang with which he was associated, reveal his past, but Jerry agrees to remain silent. Johnnie is unable to obtain employment, however, and collectors threaten his wife with foreclosure; but Jerry assures Georgette that he has a job for her husband. Discovering that Limur wants him to steal some papers from a returned officer, Johnnie at first refuses, then agrees to the proposition, remembering Georgette's distress. Caught in the act of extracting the papers by his buddy, Nolan, Johnnie is about to confess when his lookout enters. Nolan is wounded in a fight, but the thieves are captured and good fortune awaits Johnnie and Georgette.—AFI
