After an audacious jewellery robbery the whole James family heads for home on the run with the obsessive detective Julia Armstrong in hot pursuit.

Bernadette and her four children go to London to find their husband and father Spendlove, who left them alone a while back. When she finds him, her brother-in-law Frank offers Spendlove some money to return to Edinburgh with the family. But soon one night Bernadette unexpectedly robs a jewelry store and they have to head north, with obsessive cop Julia Armstrong on their tail.—Anonymous

After being fire bombed out of her home, Bernadette packs up her four children and leaves Edinburgh to travel to London in search of her worthless, currently-missing husband Spendlove. Realising that Spendlove plans to dump them, Bernadette, in shear desperation, commits a rash jewelry robbery using the children as decoys. Now on the run, the family head for home stealing cars and committing more daring daylight robberies as they go! In hot pursuit is detective Julia Armstrong who always seems to be one step behind. After one final audacious bank robbery Spendlove leaves the rest of the family to fend for themselves.
