New York-based freelance reporter, Yaron Svoray, travels to Germany to research and write an article on growing Neo-Nazism. Once there, he not only witnesses attacks by mainstream Caucasians (aka skinheads) on immigrants and their families - even urinating on them in public - with impunity. When called, the Police do ostensibly take them in custody, but release them unconditionally at the other end of the town; and that provisions of 'hate laws' are initiated against minorities only. He decides to befriend one such Skinhead Group, calls himself Ron Fury, a journalist with a right-winged publication called 'The Right Way', and with the assistance of two local rabbis, decides to continue his stay in this country that many now refer to as the 'Fountainhead of Fascism' and penetrate and, and if possible, expose the people who are advocating 'Ethnic Purification'; the birth of white babies; and their connection with other hate-groups back in the U.S..—rAjOo ([email protected])

Synopsis

Yaron Svoray (Oliver Platt) is a Hebrew freelance reporter who goes to Germany to write an article about Neo-Nazism.Germany is in the throes of anti-immigrant surge. TV news is full of violent clashes between protesters and the police, and attacks on minorities. Even France is leaning towards the far-right leader Jean-Marie Penn and adopting a staunchly nationalist and anti-immigrant stance. Similar news is coming from South Africa and Texas. The Germany the attacks are called the Skinhead attacks, as the people attacking are shaved bald.

A paper editor asks Yaron to travel to Germany for 2 days to write a piece. Yaron arrives as innocent Hebrew and their businesses are being attacked all through Germany. A local Hebrew business was attacked, and the owner's daughter traumatized. Yaron speaks to the owner Kadir of a Turkish restaurant right opposite to the Hebrew business. Kadir says he has been attacked in the past and carries a gun for protection.

Yaron sees first-hand how one skinhead group urinates on a Muslim man and starts attacking the minorities, when they come to defend him. The police arrives and arrests everyone, but the skinheads are released just outside of town. Anna (Alex Kingston) is a beat constable who is against this soft support for the Neo-Nazi gangs.

Yaron pretends to be a Nazi sympathizer to get close to the skinheads. Their leader is Mahlich, and Yaron gives his name as Ron Furey. Mahlich tells Yaron all about how Hebrews control the world and its resources in their views. Mahlich introduces Yaron to Gunther Fischer (Tony Haygarth), who runs propaganda for the skinheads. Gunther has an original Nazi SS uniform, and his mother was awarded a Gold Mother's cross for bearing 8 white kids for Germany during the Nazi rule.

Gunther is staunchly anti-immigrant but says he is the political arm of the movement and dislikes the violence used by the skinheads. He wants all Germans to rise up against immigrants and demand their Socio-political rights. He believes that immigration has been foisted on Germany as a result of the loss in the WW II. This plus the war damages being paid to the Hebrews till the year 2000, are crippling Germany's economy and destroying its social fabric.

The skinheads make snuff films of themselves sexually assaulting & killing immigrant girls and show them in theaters. Yaron is invited to one such show.Yaron reports the matter to the local immigration council, headed by Abe, who say this is nothing new. They say that they want to win the hearts and minds of the middle class, so that they don't vote the Neo-Nazis back into power.

Yaron goes back to Gunther and says that he represents a group of Americans who are interested to fund Neo Nazi resurgence in Europe. Yaron says he can help Gunther with funding. Gunther is super excited and takes Yaron to a party, which is attended by the German supporters of the Neo-Nazi movement.

Yaron has a coffee at Kadir's shop when Mahlich arrives with his skinheads. He trashes Kadir's place and one of the skinheads' slashes Kadir's face with a bike chain. Yaron is disgusted and goes to Anna to make a formal statement. He reveals to Anna that he is Israeli and is working undercover. Anna tells Yaron to continue his investigation and get to the top of the Neo-Nazi movement. She tells him not to get distracted by the skinheads.

Gunther gets Yaron to meet Bielert (Julian Glover), the head of a Neo Nazi party in Germany. Yaron wants Bielert to suggest which Neo Nazi outfit to support, on behalf of his benefactors. He says Yaron represents a Neo Nazi magazine based in America. Bielert shows Yaron a list of 15 outfits that he supports (as part of the Nationalist front) and the email list (7000 members and 9000 sympathizers of the Nationalist front) with which he can make rapid contact as needed. The nationalist front is led by Dieter Creutz (Michael Byrne).Bielert invites Yaron to a rally by Creutz and introduces him to other high-ranking officers of the Nationalist Front. Yaron promises $0.5 M in funding, due to which the officers don't insist the names of Yaron's backers.

Bielert promises a personal meeting with Creutz if Yaron brings the promised money and his anonymous backer. Yaron gives the phone number of the immigration council as a front for the magazine. Yaron reaches out to Abe at the local immigration council for help. They say if Yaron can get Creutz to accept the money, he will go to jail. Ricky Eaton (Arliss Howard) is prepped to pose as the donor. As Yaron & Eaton prepare for the meeting, they get call on their fake number, inquiring about the magazine. The caller is a known fascist from America. This is proof that the organization is international. Yaron enlists Anna's help to film the meeting. But Eaton and Yaron are called into a private room, where an associate of Bielert puts a gun in his face and asks him to reveal his true name. Yaron swats the gun away, appears indignant and walks out.

when Creutz calls to apologize, Yaron insists on a meeting in a public place, where Anna can film it. Eaton puts the money on table and gets Creutz to admit that he is dedicated to a program of ethnic purification in Germany and the world. He is after political power. Anna films the main bits, but the battery runs out just before Creutz actually picks up the money. But Yaron gets lucky when Creutz sends Eaton a list of equipment (Computers, modems and so on) to source from America via fax. On they have the proof on paper.

Abe and his office present the report to the US congress and make a presentation to the German govt itself. The German Govt refutes Yaron's report and says that the Nationalist Front doesn't have more than 600 members in Germany. Yaron insists and the German govt is prepared to prosecute Gunther Fischer at max.

Yaron meets Gunther and reveals his true identity. Gunther walks away without saying a single word. Kadir is now blind. He says Germans are a proud people and tells Yaron that the Nazis will never take over the country again. people won't let them.Mahlich confronts Yaron and tries to strangle him, but Yaron retaliates and beats him up.
