An immigrant who's been working in America for years finally returns to his hometown to reunite with his sisters and widowed mother.

Thanasos Rigas has been slaving away in America for many years to provide for his family. But in Skiathos, the idyllic island where he spent his childhood, no one knows much about his accomplishments. One thing is clear: Thanasos sends money to his widowed mother regularly. Suddenly, Thanasos announces his imminent return, and the entire island buzzes with excitement. Fresh young women dress up in their finest clothes to greet him while eligible bachelors vie for the attention of his unmarried older sister. Everyone looks forward to Thanasos' arrival; however, a tragic truth awaits his compatriots. Utterly exhausted, Thanasos accepts his fate and agrees with everything, as he always has.
