Mid-level marketing employee Henry Andreas is preparing himself for when his wife, former schoolteacher Alyssa Andreas, is released from prison in two weeks, she who will have completed her sentence for having sex with one of her fourteen year old students. Although not excusing what she did, she attributes her actions to a combination of factors, including primarily suffering from post-partum depression following the birth of her and Henry's first child, Charlie Andreas. Although others can see what it has done to him, Henry does not want to admit to himself that he has not been coping well up to this point in having to work and take care of Charlie, albeit with the help of a nanny and Alyssa's father Armand when required, the nanny a further financial burden on top of the loss of one income and the legal bills. But his emotional problems are arguably mostly surrounding the feeling of emasculation.
