Synopsis

'The Heart of Battle' reveals the extraordinary and inspirational bond between Sergeant David Battle, the most critically wounded soldier from Iraq currently at Walter Reed Hospital, and Inga Guen, a German immigrant who lives in the world of haute couture fashion and caters to some of Washingtons most powerful women. Miraculous circumstances, beginning with Battle's survival after stepping directly on an Improvised Explosive Device laced with flesh-eating bacteria, unite these two strangers. When Inga first meets David he is in a coma and already a triple amputee, having lost both legs and one arm. Upon waking up, Davids eyes meet Ingas, and they form an instant, magical connection. He calls her mom and she calls him son. Inga is blind to his limitations, insisting that he fulfill all of his dreams, despite his injuries. Just as her love for him helps Battle to prevail, helping him allows her to give back to her adopted homeland for all the joys it has brought her. As Guen and Battle struggle to overcome his past, their relationship becomes the silver lining that helps them conquer the present.
