Gandhi is a hostage negotiator, field agent, and spy working for the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS). After years of service, he is called back for a critical mission that sets him on a dangerous collision course with his own past.
Gandhi an undercover SATS agent lives with his pregnant wife Anu and son Jeevan.He and his team carry our secret mission in various countries this makes Anu suspicious of infidelity.In order to avoid suspicion Gandhi takes his family to Bangkok where he is on a mission.But they get attacked by unknown goons where Anu has to go for an emergency delivery and Jeevan gets killed.Years later Gandhi is living away from his family and has switched his job.But his old boss Nazeer sends him on a mission to Moscow where he meets his younger lookalike and feels that he is Jeevan.They guy recognizes Gandhi as his father and discloses himself as Jeevan and both return back to Chennai.Things are going well until one day Nazeer asks Gandhi to meet on priority.But before that Nazeer gets killed by Jeeva whose not whom he claims to be.—[email protected]
In 2008 at Kenya, the Special Anti-Terrorism Squad (SATS), consisting of M. S. Gandhi (Vijay), Sunil Thiagarajan (Prashanth), Kalyan Sundaram (Prabhu Deva) and Ajay Govindharaj (Ajmal Ameer), intercepts the terrorist Omar (Omar Lateef) to extract uranium from him. Their former chief, Rajiv Menon (Mohan), who is absconding after being charged with treason, is also on the same train. Gandhi realizes that this is a golden opportunity to nab Menon and decides to arrest him, along with getting the Uranium.They retrieve the uranium from Menon and destroy the train he was on, believing everyone on board, including Menon, to have died. Back in Delhi, the team lives undercover as employees of India Tourism Development Corporation, hiding their real jobs from their families. Gandhi lives with his wife, Anuradha "Anu" (Sneha), who is pregnant, and their five-year-old son, Jeevan (Vijay).
Gandhi takes his family along to alleviate Anu's suspicions of infidelity when he is assigned a new mission in Bangkok. Anu complains that every time she calls Gandhi weird noises are coming from the phone (as he is on mission), and then he abruptly cuts the phone. When she calls his friends, they all claim that he is sleeping at their place, simultaneously.After completing the mission, Gandhi and his family are attacked, leading to Anu going into labor, and Jeevan mysteriously disappearing. The police find a charred body they believe to be Jeevan's, leaving Gandhi devastated. Anu delivers a baby girl but stops speaking to Gandhi out of grief. Anu believes that Gandhi endangered the entire family due to his work.
By 2024, Gandhi has left the squad and works as an immigration officer at Chennai International Airport. He and Anu live separately, and their daughter, Jeevitha (Abhyukta Manikandan) lives with Anu.
Nazeer (Jayaram), Gandhi's former boss and Kalyan ask him to go to Moscow to train new officers at the reopened Indian Embassy. Though reluctant, Gandhi agrees, but during his time there, the embassy is attacked by a gang of rioters who are intent on demonstrating that Russia is not safe for Indians. Gandhi fights them off and is shocked to see one of the attackers, who looks like a younger version of himself.Gandhi realizes it is Jeevan. The next day Gandhi visits a police station and coming out he sees Jeevan again. Gandhi follows him and is attacked by rioters again. Gandhi confirms that it is Jeevan, when Jeevan addresses him as father. Jeevan says that he does not remember many things about his childhood. Jeevan helps him Gandhi off the attackers called the Faisal Gang. They return to Chennai, and the family reunites, with Anu starting to speak to Gandhi again.Sunil's daughter Srinidhi finds Jeevan attractive.
Nazeer calls Gandhi for an urgent meeting at the Chennai Airport bar, stating that the information is so confidential it cannot be told over phone. Nazeer is attacked by a masked man on the way there. He escapes the attack and enters Chennai Metro. He makes a call to Gandhi but cannot reveal his location as he dropped the mobile. Gandhi arrives just in time to fight off the attacker, but Nazeer is killed by the masked man, who is later revealed to be Jeevan. Gandhi does not know the identity of Nazeer's killer.
Gandhi returns to the SATS squad to find who is trying to cause a threat to their agency. Gandhi is told that Nazeer downloaded some data from his computer to his personal mobile for his meeting with Gandhi.Nazeer's phone has all the information about Jeevan and his gang from Moscow. Jeevan's accomplice Sha (Vaibhav) took the phone from Nazeer in the Metro station when Nazeer dropped it. But Sha reveals to Jeevan that the phone went missing. It is revealed that Jeevan has been working for Menon all this time and Jeevan had come to Gandhi's family for a reason.
Menon survived the train explosion in 2008 but lost his entire family in the incident who were also on the train. Seeking revenge, he tracked Gandhi to Bangkok, kidnapped Jeevan, and placed him in a juvenile facility, instilling fear in him. In the facility, Jeevan was tortured daily, branded with hot irons and even made to beg.Menon then "rescued" Jeevan from the facility, earning his trust and renaming him Sanjay. Jeevan, manipulated by Menon, came to believe Gandhi was responsible for the deaths of his family. Fueled by this hatred, Jeevan dedicated his life to Menon and revenge. Menon tells Jeevan that Gandhi is his biological father.
Gandhi contacts the person Yogi Babu (Yogi Babu) who stole the phone from Sha, by dialing the number, and wants the phone back. Jeevan also does the same. Gandhi guides Babu to the Le Meridien hotel where Ajay gets the phone, but Jeevan kills him.
Jeevan kidnaps Sunil's daughter, Srinidhi (Meenakshi Chaudhary). Jeevan did this as Menon was entering India through Chennai port, but one of the persons travelling with him was arrested. Before Gandhi could get there, Jeevan kidnapped Srinidhi to distract Gandhi and demand the release of all men arrested at the port. Kalyan intervenes and orders the release of all men in custody at the Chennai port.During the kidnapping, it is revealed that Kalyan has been working with Menon all along, and Kalyan murders Srinidhi after Sunil, Gandhi and Kalyan reach the abandoned theme park where Jeevan had kept Srinidhi. Kalyan found her first, as Jeevan escaped. Jeevan had slit her throat, but she was alive and to stop her from revealing any more secrets, Kalyan kills her.Nazeer had told Kalyan that he had proof that Menon was alive and had copied it to his phone and this is why Jeevan killed him.
Gandhi was still looking for the person who picked the mobile at the metro station. He gets a call from Babu and finds Sha's room, where he finds bomb making materials.While tracking down Sha, Gandhi coincidentally finds Jeevan and arrests him. During an interrogation, Jeevan seizes Sunil's gun, seemingly kills him, and forces Gandhi to escort him out as Menon had kidnapped Anu, allowing Jeevan to escape.
Gandhi and Anu are kept hostage by Menon at an abandoned location.Jeevan's final plan is to detonate a bomb at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, intending to kill the audience and frame Gandhi. Turns out Gandhi was faking his abduction to learn the target of the bomb blast. A SATS team arrives to rescue Gandhi and arrest Menon. Kalyan later arrives at the abandoned location to meet Menon. However, Sunil is revealed to be alive and takes revenge on Kalyan, killing him. Gandhi had told Sunil that Srinidhi had died from Asphyxiation and not from slitting of the throat, and after Jeevan only Kalyan went near him.
Gandhi brings Menon to the stadium to distract Jeevan, who is enraged at blindsided by the turn of events.Gandhi, with the help of his brother-in-law, Seenu (Premgi Amaren), and Jeevitha, manages to get hold of the detonators. Jeevitha runs with the detonators and as she is pursued by Jeevan and his goons, she runs to the top of the stadium.Gandhi confronts Jeevan, killing him atop the stadium.
It is revealed that "Jeevan" was actually a clone. The real Jeevan, now a mad scientist specializing in human cloning, prepares more clones to continue his nefarious plans.
