A young girl, who lives in a poor neighborhood with her little brother, falls in love with a rich young man.

Struggling to make ends meet, working in their deceased parents' out-of-the-way corner shop, the poor orphan, Agni, and her younger brother, Petrakis, dream of a better life, and a brighter future. Before long, the unexpected night-time visit of the handsome and affluent youth, Aggelos, will lead to an ardent whirlwind romance, straight out of the fairy tales Agni reads to her brother. However, Aggelos' father opposes the star-crossed lovers' clandestine union, bent on doing everything in his power to put an end to the affair.
