Synopsis

Based on a true story and a prominent Banker's confession, The Gift is an unapologetic tale of corruption, coercion and profit in the midst of the current financial crisis and the harsh regulatory fiscal policies that convulsed Eastern Europe.

Andrew Lascu, a rising star in the world of international high finance, is caught in a web of deceit and corruption involving a prominent politician and his own peers.Lavinia, a beautiful, charismatic radio reporter is desperate to help a recently widowed and paralysed friend prevent her home from being foreclosed on. Petru Lascu, Andrew's estranged brother, struggling to survive and keep a roof over his own family's head, whilst the local thugs and the security services who turn a blind eye to their activities are taking a cut from everything he produces in the countryside.

Three stories entwine to give a vigorous, sometimes graphic, insight into the crooked wrinkles of banking policies and the inextricable relationship between money, power and corruption.

What remains when 'best laid plans' are confronted by the reality of life.
